I bought the Asus RT-AC5300 a couple weeks ago. It started doing this out of the box and I'm not sure if it's defective or not. The issue happens when I'm both wired and wireless. The connection will slow down to zero, and basically stop working BUT it doesn't exactly drop the connection. For example if I'm downloading a large file I'll be downloading at around 30 mb/s then it will get slower and slower until it reaches 0 then speed back up.
