AC88U Alert Preference

I have recently purchased and am using an Asus AC88U. I am fairly happy with it. I may have run into an impasse. It seems that I cannot have notifications sent to me without a Google or AOL account. The other two options seem a bit concerning as I believe they are both Chinese. I don't want my notifications going through China, if that is truly what they would be doing.
