AC68U and 3TB hard drives

Is there any limit to hard drives formatted to HFS+? Asus just state HFS+ is supported in their literature, not specifying a limit.

Looking at a 3TB drive for Time Machine backups.

Any performance hits using HFS+ over ext4 with the router?
