Suggested tweaks for GT-AC5300?

So new to the forum and really appreciate the wealth of knowledge that is shared here. I purchase d anew GT-AC5300 on was curious what the recommended settings/tweaks might be that others use? I understand that each network is different but I was really unaware of all the different settings that can be made with wifi routers.

Specifically, are there benefits for selecting a specific channel for each band and if so, how to go about that? I have also seen "Smart Connect" mentioned and...
