I have a ASUS RT-AC86U with the latest firmware. (3.0.0.4.384_10007)
The coaxial cable is going into my own modem, and the modem is connected to the router with a single CAT5 cable. Nothing else is plugged into the router. All connections are wireless.
I have a guest wifi network that my neighbor uses.
When I look at connected clients it shows a "Wired" connection. The device shows as a Mac named "Tommys-Mac-Pro". I have no idea where it's getting this connection from. I have two Macs...
