RT-AC5300 x2 Wi-Fi Bridging Issue

Current Network Setup:

Central Router - RT-AC5300
Wi-Fi 2.4GHz Media Bridge 01 - RT-AC66U
Wi-Fi 5GHz-1 Media Bridge 02 - RT-AC87U
Wi-Fi 5GHz-2 Media Bridge 03 - RT-AC5300 <-- Issue being discussed

*Each bridge is in a different room with similar RSSI

Problem Summary:

Bridge 03 has a networking reliability issue. I'm suspecting it is something networking-related on the Router, rather than Wi-Fi signal strength, since Bridge 03's RSSI is usually around -37dBm....

Reasons to buy the AC68U compared to the AC66U_B1?

I did try searching but couldn't find a definitive comparison so could someone explain what if any benefits there are to an RT-AC68U over an RT-AC66U_B1? From what I understand they're the same underlying hardware and firmware for the 68 even works on the 66, is that correct? If so, other than the lack of detachable antennae and the horizontal form factor is there anything the AC68 offers that lifts it above the AC66U_B1 given the latter is £45 cheaper here in the UK?

Hi there

I am seeing a number of issues with iDevices Homekit enabled products (HomeKit switches) and currently run across AC3100 and AC88u. I have tried isolation testing using other routers, configs etc and still see the same issues (disconnects of the devices, random drop offs non response to HomeKit apps, issues with pairing to WiFi etc) even with great signal to noise ratio in each location etc.

I am not ruling out (in fact quite conversely think the issue lies with the iDevices...

ASUS Lyra and odd traffic

Hello All,

I recently picked up an Lyra mesh setup, and have started encountering issues with random drops of the client devices.

To set the stage. My Lyra devices are in AP mode. The upstream router is a Meraki MX unit.
The Lyra devices are at fixed IP addresses (.2, .236, .237 ) within the network.

During my troubleshooting of the client drops I have been collecting wireshark captures and have noted that the Lyra nodes seem to be trying to communicate off network using TCP ports 7788...

I'm constantly having problems with miniupnpd in RT-AC68U. After a day or two, the log is filled with these error messages:

Hello,

My apologies, I am a long time follower of this forum, but first time poster and I need some (noob) help. I previously had an Asus RT-AC87U and had no issues for a long time. Shortly after redoing my kitchen, my WiFI started to act up as in dropping the connection, range became bad so I assumed it was kitchen interference, so I relocated the Asus router in my living room away, further away from the kitchen, to help correct any possible interference. That didn't resolve the issue, so...

AC3100 gigabit speeds

Hi all,

I have an AC3100 which I purchased a couple days ago, I have noticed that the speeds are not anywhere near my gigabit connection with Xfinity comcast. When I first got it the speeds were great but then all of a sudden they are not surpassing over 150mb (weird thing is the upload is fine). http://speedtest.xfinity.com/results/J9965H58S5YPZ67

I recently bought an AC88u router as an upgrade. It worked great out of the box (though I must say that the boot times are atrocious). On the second day, I saw that the 2.4 Ghz band LED was off and on scanning wifi networks on multiple devices, the 2.4Ghz band was no where to be seen. In addition, trying to access the WebGUI would lead to a broken webpage, even after reboot.

I reset the router, and though the WebGUI was back, the 2.4Ghz band was still not working. I have tried upgrading the...

RT-AC1900P: Restore settings from RT-AC68P?

Hello,

I've just purchased an RT-AC1900P in order to configure AiMesh functionality with my existing RT-AC68P and am wondering if it would be possible to restore settings taken from the 68P to the 1900P. (As in would it work without bricking my 1900P?)

The goal is to use the 1900P as my primary router and then repurpose the 68P as an AiMesh node.

Obviously I'd turn off the 68P in order to test this.

Both are currently running the latest firmware.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5GHz network connection drops after a few minutes, does not recover

I'm using a fairly new (purchased about a month ago) ASUS RT-AC88U router.

Since configuring it the 5GHz connection drops a few minutes after restarting the router—it no longer appears when scanning for networks, currently connected devices lose their connection to the internet and then the network. Restarting reenables the network for a short amount of time, but within 5-30 minutes it will drop again.

The 2.4GHz network is unaffected.
  • I've reset the router to factory defaults...

Have any of you FORUM Gurus looked at using Entware on the ac-gt5300 router?

After trying in install Entware on usb media, with errors; Found that Asus has "/opt" defined in the stock code!@#!
Dang what a PITA. Is it possible to change the Entware install path or have Entware been hard coded to the /opt prefix?

Hello. I only use my RT-AC68U in repeater or media bridge mode. I just updated to the latest firmware (Version 3.0.0.4.384.10007) and repeater mode doesn't work at all. It seems that it doesn't connect to the parent router.

Also, when searching for networks to be extended, only 2.4GHz show up. The 5GHz ones are absent. This has been the case with every firmware up to now but at least before there was a manual setting where I could enter the 5GHz networks manually. The manual setting is no...

My router is at the current FW level (2.052 Updated : 2018/01/20 11:18)

Login from FIREFOX.

While I have a minor concern, I am reporting the issue in case it is more than trivial.

The performance of command module is extremely lumpy and appears to coincidental with the updates with respect to the INTEL chip problem.

Does anyone else have the same lumpy performance?

I am using router based VPN with service provided by VYPR vpn.

[Resolved] Cannot Connect My Converted TM-AC1900

My TM-AC1900 was successfully converted to RT-AC68U, running Merlin 382.2.beta2.

I re-flashed the trunc_new_1.0.2.0 using 1.0.2.0 US AiMesh on CFEditor.pipeline.sh. However, after nvram reset, the router is not accessible anymore. I set up my PC IP as 192.168.1.2. I couldn't ping 192.168.1.1 either. I tried Reset Button with or without WPS+WiFiOn/Off buttons, although the front Power LED light blinks slowly, even ASUS Restoration utility said it's not in Rescue Mode.

Any thoughts are...

Setup: T-Mobile TM-AC1900 successfully flashed (CFE) to RT-AC68U long ago

Background: Was on latest Asus stock firmware for a while. Decided to try out Tomato. Wasn't happy with WiFi performance, so decided to try flashing to Merlin last night.

Flashing steps:
  1. Tried flashing latest stable Merlin firmware "RT-AC68U_378.56_2.trx" via Tomato interface, got "Bad TRX...

Extending my WIFI - Suggestions?

I have an RT-AC3100 router and I want to extend it's WIFI signal to areas of the house that have some dull spots. I run a cable from the router to a gigabyte switch, which then runs cables to 3-4 computers. I have a free port in the switch so I should easily be able to hardware something in here.

I initially purchased an ASUS RP-AC68U (note the RP (repeater), not the RT router that shares the same model number) and had no end of problems where it wouldn't connect to the RT-AC3100...

Look - this firmware is complete trash. I'm coming from an R9000 and I'm pissed. Returning this turd of a router to amazon.

I got it all set up - disabled firewall on ipv4 and 6. How about this:

Netgear router, I'm getting 950/950 on my fiber connection with Native IPV6 working.

Asus - At best 500-750 down, significantly worse wireless performance, and no native ipv6. it can't pull it down automatically! I'm using the latest 384 firmware. Bought this thing for the AiMesh and am 100%...
