RT-AC3100 - Some WIFI Devices will not connect

I just bought Assus RT-AC3100 router a few weeks ago. So far no problem getting devices to connect to it both on the 5g an 2.4 g side. However one of the biggest problems and I have been searching all over for a solution is the fact that I have 2 devices the refuses to connect and maybe there are more.

It all started with the Whistle Activity Tracker. The problem here was that I was able to get it to connect but when adding other devices back to the wifi it wouldn't stay connected any more...

No Internet after VPN Connection.

Hey Chaps,

So I seem to be having issues accessing the internet after I activate the VPN. A little history first

Router: GT:AC5300
Firmware: 3.0.0.4.384.20648

My WAN is on a Static IP to my main gateway
DNS Servers are set to Open DNS
My VPN Provider is Torguard
I am using OpenVPN as my VPN Method

All other settings on the router are defaults as I wanted to test the VPN without any other influences that I may accidently put into place.

As soon as I disable the VPN connection my internet...

No Internet after VPN Connection.

Asus 86U - single SSID

I am ready to dump my eero (version 1) system and go with the 86U. How do I setup a single SSID for both 2.4 and 5G so my devices just roam like they do under eero?

RT-AC88U 5ghz up and down

Every few days my devices stop seeing the 5ghz WiFi channel. The LED on the router is still on but the SSID becomes invisible. A reboot solves the problem but then after a few days it happens again.

Any thoughts on a cause or how I can fix it.

RT-AC86U CPU and radio temperature commands?

The commands that worked for my RT-AC68U and RT-AC3100
  • CPU temperature: cat /proc/dmu/temperature
  • Radio 1: wl -i eth1 phy_tempsense
  • Radio 2: wl -i eth2 phy_tempsense
are not working for the RT-AC86U. Anyone know the new commands for the RT-AC86U?

I've been running our home network for several years on an AC68U and I've really enjoyed it. I have several wireless devices, but my primary system, and the system I'm doing my investigating with, is wired directly to the router. My service from the ONT is Ethernet.

Recently, I had to upgrade my service level with Frontier because they no longer wanted to support their 30/30 customers. So I took the next lowest service of 50/50, but I've only been able to achieve 30/30 with every test. I've...

ASUS GT-AC5300 expressVPN OpenVPN client issues

Looking to see if anyone who uses expressVPN has been able to get it working to stream Netflix utilizing OpenVPN on their router. Tried configuring it on the router using LA-3 and although it shows my IP in Cali, I am still getting the proxy error from Netflix. I am able to stream US content if I initiate the VPN from my laptop but been unsuccessful initiating it from the router. The GUI differs from the regular AC5300. Thanks!

Upgrade from RT-AC66U to RT-AC86U worth it?

Hi Folks,
Long time lurker, thank you so much for all the great info over the years.
Currently using the 66u listed above running Merlin, works fine, no issues. That said, as time has gone on, and there are more connected devices we are using, I am looking for most importantly , more range. I am wondering if the ac86u would change that much? Speed so far doesn't seem to be an issue , I would just like more range, ie, basement and out on the deck.

Authentication failure on Asus router app after firmware upgrade

As it states in the title. I updated the firmware the other night and seemed to have some issues with the router not been live on the app.
I decided to delete it and when I reinstalled it I can no longer log in.

Opening a browser and logging in with same user name and password works perfect. Issue seems to be just with the app.

Anyone have a similar issue?

I recently purchased the subject repeater RP-AC68U (real cheap, second hand) to use it as a repeater near my TV set and communicating in expressway 5Ghz mode to my RT-AC3200 for high speed comms and being able to feed data to several electronics (PVR, IPTV deco, XBOX...) thanks to its integrated switch. In general terms I am quite happy. Performance is solid and high speed, but I've found several nits. I am working with latest firmware for the RP-AC68U : 3.0.0.4.382.10513. Has anyone...

RT-AC68U hardware issue - no RF output

Hi,
I've got an AC68U (Revision E1) and it's got no RF output.
The switcher IC U2 (FitiPower FR9618) is damaged and has no output. This is the supply that in some form goes to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz RF amps so that's not suprising. There may be other faults but I'll work through.

So, if there's anyone out there with an RT-AC68U with the case off, and handy with a multimeter could they measure the voltage on pin 3 of U2 please and let me know. I think it should be 2.85V but not entirely sure....

68u -No write access via telnet/SSH?

So I am able to telnet into my TM1900 / AC68U router, and login under admin/password.
I then navigate to the USB flash drive in the router as follows:
"cd/tmp/mnt/"USB Flash Drive Name"
Problem is, when i try to replace (mtd-write)my original_cfe.bin with new_cfe.bin, i get a error message.
"Permission Denied".

I already tried "chmod -x mtd-write".

It must be something with my login? or is it a read only directory? I have already flashed my CFE once before, so I am confused to why this...

Let me start by saying I have the latest firmware installed.

I've searched and read everything I could find that had any similarities to my issues, so this is my "Last Hurrah" at a solution...

RT-AC1900P CPU always pegged and SSH isn't working

My router is a RT-AC1900P, using factory firmware (3.0.0.4.384_20624).

Every single day, core # 2 of my router is pegged at 100%. If i reboot it, after a few hours, it's right back to 100%. No gradual climb.... just goes from 0-5% for a few hours then shoots to 100% and stays there until I reboot the router. I used the built in admin page to schedule a daily reboot and core 2 always pegs after a few hours of up time. I turned on SSH so I could maybe log in and get a better idea of what is...

RT-AC87U has started randomly dropping and reconnecting in the past day

As the title says, my router has curiously developed this problem. Thought it was the ISP so I called them up, but they swear it's the router or modem. No idea why it might be doing this.

Some other info:
-Connection is wired
-Never had any issues like this before now
-Most of the time when this happens, the bars on the router all show blue and the router hub/menu shows it as connected
-One of two router/modem setups in the house. The other one has been working fine and has zero problems...

RT-AC87U has started randomly dropping and reconnecting in the past day

Can't connect to AiCloud 2.0 properly & Some other problems

Here are the list of the problems I have right now:

- When I login through AiCloud Login page using admin account, the website refused to connect, but when I create a new account on General>USB Application>Servers Center, and login to that account, I can connect to the AiCloud Page

- Once I'm in the AiCloud Page, I can't seem to do anything. There are no folders or files. The UI seems to be missing too
