Merlin irrespective AC86U router country?

Hi
I'm from Australia and the AC86U wireless router is exclusively sold via a retailer between A$350-$400. There are websites in Australia selling grey imports from HK, Malaysia, China for A$205. now you can see the temptation for the price difference. I was worried if grey import from say HK or Malaysia, the firmware and admin setup page may all be in their home language and not English.

Someone from other forums indicated that all I needed to do is to flash with the Merlin firmware and...

Original Moto X can't connect to 5.0 on RT-AC86U

Hi all,

I just bought an RT-AC86U as a replacement/upgrade from my RT-N66U. So far I'm very pleased with it. 5.0 range is significantly better. The only problem I've had is that my wife's original Moto X will not connect to the 5.0. It will connect to the 2.4 just fine. It is supposed to support wireless N and AC. The Android settings will initially say it is connected (although the wifi indicator never shows up on top of the screen). Then it just disconnects and sits there.

RT-AC87U has started randomly dropping and reconnecting in the past day

As the title says, my router has curiously developed this problem. Thought it was the ISP so I called them up, but they swear it's the router or modem. No idea why it might be doing this.

Some other info:
-Connection is wired
-Never had any issues like this before now
-Most of the time when this happens, the bars on the router all show blue and the router hub/menu shows it as connected
-One of two router/modem setups in the house. The other one has been working fine and has zero problems...

Greetings SNB community!

Setup: T-Mobile TM-AC1900 successfully flashed (CFE) to RT-AC68U long ago

Background: Was on latest Asus stock firmware for a while. Decided to try out Tomato. Wasn't happy with WiFi performance, so decided to try flashing to Merlin last night.

Flashing steps:
  1. Tried flashing latest stable Merlin firmware "RT-AC68U_378.56_2.trx" via Tomato interface, got "Bad TRX...

Suspicious Devices in new App Disconnected Device List

Hey all,

I've been a lurker on these forums for a couple years now and learned a lot. I have a RT-AC68P which has been fantastic. However, when ASUS updated the app recently they added the ability to see not only connected devices, but also disconnected devices. In this list are 3 devices/mac addresses that I know I did not allow on my network. Does anybody know if this list shows devices that attempted to connect, or if it only shows devices which connected with an authenticated key?...

i have the ac3100 with the latest firmware. It is in ap mode as it's taking the Internet from my cable router downstairs. I have new cat 6 cables run. I just recently upgraded from the 50mb to the 130mb plan. My desktop downstairs is hard wired from the cable modem and is consistent at 130ish. I sometimes get that speed on my upstairs ac3100 wireless on my cellphone but all iPads are 30-50ish. I have an android box wired into the asus and sometimes get that speed but goes down to...

AI Protection - Malicious Site Blocking

AI Protection's "Event Details" lists entries from my WAN port to primarily Pixel.Bilinmedia.net. (see attached JPG)
Does this mean one of the clients on my LAN is trying to go to Pixel.Bilinmedia.net?
I can't find anything on this URL.

HELP - can't log in!

Hey all.. running an RT AC68P, upgraded firmware in feb to 380_4164.

Also changed the admin name and password back then. did backup.

All has been fine... then this morning... nothing seemed to be working and I couldn't even get to the GUI. rebooted...and now I can get to the GUI, but it won't let me login, with new or old passwords.

I'm on internet... but obviously a bit worried.... Suggested next steps?

Factory reset and upload backup?

EDIT. I actually thought I upgraded the firmware...

Hi,
about CPU on this device :

RT-AC86U : Broadcom BCM4906 (1.8 GHz, 2 cores)
RT-AC88U : Broadcom BCM4709C0 (1.4 GHz, 2 cores)

RT-AC86U is the best solution if I need power for :

- AiProtecion
- QoS with App analysis
- VPN
- Ad-blocking ( pi-hole\ab-solution )

i prefer AC-88U for 8X port lan with link-aggregation :(

Has anyone noticed weird issues with their RT-AC68U (and RT-AC1900P, etc) router
and pretty much any Intel WiFi adapter (specifically Intel AC826x adapters) on 2.4 Ghz?

There's really no solution for this, the issues are intermittent, so it takes a while
to notice it when browsing websites sometimes, and it only happens on 2.4 ghz.

RT-AC66U router + Powerline and second router?

I have an RT-AC66U as my main router downstairs. WiFi is spotty upstairs, so I've been trying to extend it using a couple of Powerline adapters I had lying around and a second cheap router I bought, but I keep running into problems.

As I understand it, this is the procedure: you copy the WiFi and internet settings (SSID, encryption, password, DNS etc) from the primary router to the secondary router. You switch off DHCP on the secondary router. You set the secondary router's own IP address...

My network is snobbish.

I have no problems getting each device to wirelessly connect to the internet. WiFi is strong in all areas of the house. That's why I love this router.

However, although it all looks good on the outside, no one will communicate with each other. I have many wireless devices and most are connected at 5GHz. We just built a home and I've been trying to implement many "smart" devices. So I have many devices, that I try and operate from another device like my phone or...

RT-AC3100 dual connection via Hitron CODA-4582U

Hello,

I am currently using a Hitron CODA-4582U in a bridge mode. Since the modem has 4 Ethernet ports, each port can connect a network equipment. Can I use the AC3100 WAN port & LAN port 1 to connect the modem to setup a load balance connection environment?

I knew the connections do not backup each other, if one fail, both fail. My question is can I get any benefit from the setup?

4/15 to 4/30 lapse in AiProtection activity?

Anyone else notice a lapse in AiProtection activity from around 4/15 to 4/30? Seems odd that I have logged no activity for the last 15 days and then it suddenly starts up again... Malicious Sites Blocking and Vulnerability Protection/IPS.

Hi

I just recently updated my router firmware version to Firmware Version:384.4_2

Under the traffic analyzer / statistics, it only shows how much I uploaded but not download any bandwidth. Is this a bug?

RT-AC88U : no 2.4 wifi, no AiMesh icon and router super slow

Hi,
Last week I setup an AiMesh on my RT-AC88U (with the AC88 as the AiMesh router and using one RC-AC3100 as one AiMesh node with wired connection) and it had been working fine. Yesterday when I got back from work, the WiFi was down in the house. I looked at the AC3100 node and the both WiFi LEDs were one and I could see my WiFi but I just couldn't connect to it. I looked at AC88 and the 2.4 WiFi LED was not on. Both routers have the latest firmware.
I thought the easiest thing...
